About ACOR

The heart of ACOR is a large collection of cancer-related online email lists hosted by L-Soft, which have delivered millions of email messages to subscribers across the globe since 1995.

ACOR aims to:

  1. Provide information and support to cancer patients and those who care for them through the creation and maintenance of cancer-related Internet mailing lists.
  2. Provide our subscribers with access to varied and credible information sources through Internet resource development and partnership with trusted content providers.
  3. Respect our subscribers by:
    1. working to protect their privacy through the implementation of secure systems.
    2. promising not to sell or transfer personally-identifiable information to a third party without the informed consent of each subscriber BEFORE the data is collected.
    3. educating users concerning relevant existing and emerging privacy concerns in Internet Health Care
    4. participating in the creation of ethical guidelines for eHealth
  4. ACOR is one of the original social networks, created long before the term became one of the buzzwords of the web 2.0 explosion of services. Since September 1995 ACOR users interested in specific and often rare forms of cancers have benefited from the collective intelligence of many patients and caregivers.
  5. ACOR is also invested in researching medical online communities and has helped to produce some of the most important and groundbreaking projects designed to understand how the Internet helps people to become informed patients, able to maximize the quality of medical care they receive.
