Eugene Madsen received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in microbiology, soil science, and ecology. He serves on the editorial board of Applied Environmental Microbiology and is currently Assistant Professor of Microbiology at Cornell University, where he teaches and conducts research in environmental microbiology. He was born and raised on the edge of North America in Oakland, California.
