Disruption of Work or Activities
Denise asked: "Jess and others have mentioned that they haven't missed
much work or been slowed down much. Is this common or are they the exception?"
A quick answer to your question is provided by survey respondents' answers
to a question about the degree to which their normal activities had been
disrupted by CLL (not at all, mildly, a lot). The table below shows how
the 340 list survey respondents assessed their experience. To make it more
meaningful, I've tabulated it by years since diagnosis. As you can see,
77-85% of the respondents said they experienced no or mild disruption of
their lives. Especially, interesting is that time passed since diagnosis
seems to make little difference. In a later report, I'll probably
republish these data along with more analysis. In the meantime, I hope
that they will provide you and other newly diagnosed subscribers with a
measure of reassurance and peace.
