Internet Leukemia Support Resources

There are several major internet lists that provide support for people dealing with Leukemia and related diseases. Patients, caretakers, and medical personnel all interact to answer questions and concerns posted to these lists. Many of the lists below can be subscribed to or unsubscribed to from the Association of Cancer Online Resources (ACOR) web page: the ACOR Interface to the Mailing Lists .

Support for Aplastic Anemia and Myleodysplastic Syndromes

Marrowforums

Marrowforums, is a web-based discussion forum for people affected by bone marrow failure diseases, including Aplastic Anemia (AA), Myleodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH). Marrowforums is a replacement for the AA-MDS-TALK listserv that was based on AOL.

NHL List

The NHL list is for Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients and care givers alike. The purpose is to provide support, caring, information about lymphoma, and living with this disease. Discussions cover the full range of standard treatments, clinical trials, and technological advances in the treatment of NHL. The focus is on modern scientifically based medicine but discussions occasionally include alternative and complementary treatments. To subscribe go to the NHL group page on Yahoo.

Caring Family Lists

Four more excellent support lists of which you should be aware are:

  • SICKKIDS a moderated list (with adult supervision) for children under 18 who have serious illnesses,

  • CARINGKIDS a moderated list (with adult supervision) for children under 18 who have parents and/or siblings with severe illnesses, and

  • CARINGPARENTS for parents with serious illnesses or those who have children with serious illnesses. Visit the Caring Parents Web Page .

  • FACING AHEAD for caretakers who have lost or are about to lose a loved one.

BMT Support Online

BMT support Online hosts a peer support group that meets Tuesdays and Saturdays at 9:00 PM EST as well as a Caregivers support group that meets Thurdays at 9:00 PM EST.

  • Click on " Private Room "
  • Type in " BMT Kids "
  • Click on " create " and you should be in the moderated chat room.
