Armstrong To Ride Again -- In Gruene
Lance Armstrong, who is battling cancer, will ride in an exhibition with racing cyclist great Eddy Merckx on Sunday at the Tour de Gruene in Gruene (TX). Merckx, a five-time winner of the Tour de France in the 1970s, is in Austin visiting Armstrong.
"The doctors won't let Lance race, but he'll be out there spinning nice and easy with Eddy" said Bill Stapleton, Armstrong's attorney. Surgeons in Indianapolis operated on Armstrong last month to remove two small, malignant lesions from his brain.
